A Poem for the Planet

1. A Poem for the Planet 2008 is open to all children in the Sheffield area aged 7 - 17 years old. 

2. All poems must be conservation themed.

3. Poems must be written in English and be the original work of the author.

4. Poems must be 25 lines or below. For publishing purposes A Poem for the Planet reserve the right to edit any submitted poems.

5. Submission of poems will be taken as consent for it's publication on either the A Poem for the Planet website, or in the A Poem for the Planet Compendium/Book. Poems must not have been previously published.

6. Poems may be submitted either as handwritten or word-processed documents. Children are welcome to submit illustrated poems but these will not be awarded any extra marks during the judging process. Poems will not be returned so be sure to make a copy! Entries that are altered, damaged, defaced, illegible or incomplete may be deemed to be invalid by the promoter.

7. Schools, Groups or Parents are responsible for forwarding submissions from participants on behalf of A Poem for the Planet. It is recommended that submissions are sent in bulk from schools, but individuals may send submissions seperately. Individuals must still provide the details of their school or the submission may be deemed invalid.

8. Schools are required to forward submissions to A Poem for the Planet to arrive no later than Friday 5th December 2008. (Poems received after this date will be ineligible for competition entry and judging.) No responsibility is accepted for entries lost, delayed or damaged in the post. Proof of posting is not proof of delivery.

10. A winning poem shall be selected from each of the two categories (Primary or Secondary) by David Harmer. Judges decisions are final and they will be under no obligation to enter into correspondence regarding the judging process, or offer feedback on poems entered into the competition.

11. Winners will be announced by Friday 28th March 2009. Prizes are as listed on the A Poem for the Planet website. These are non-transferable, non-negotiable and no cash alternatives are available.

12. Specific restrictions apply to some prizes. Full details for prizes will be provided to the winners at the time of notification. No alternative prizes will be available.
